The images on this Web site represent a selection from the LaHart Collection. The entire collection can be viewed onsite at the State Archives of Florida in Tallahassee.

Description: This collection consists of color slides of Florida wildlife, vegetation, and ecology and environmental issues.

Historical Note: Dr. David E. LaHart has directed Florida State University's Energy & Environmental Alliance since 1992. Before that, Dr. LaHart was Senior Instructor and Director of Technology Transfer at the University of Central Florida's Solar Energy Center. Dr. LaHart has a B.S. in Wildlife Science from Cornell University and an M.S. in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Florida. He also earned an M.S. in Science Education and a Ph.D. in Environmental Science from Florida State University. He has co-authored several secondary school science textbooks, published over 150 technical and popular articles, and directed numerous state and national curriculum development and implementation projects in environmental and energy education.

Dr. LaHart's work has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the U.S. Department of the Interior. Dr. LaHart was named Florida's Outstanding Science Educator in 1989 and Florida Marine Science Educator of the Year in 1999 and received the Golden LEEF Award in 2003. He has served as a consultant to the U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, Biological Sciences Curriculum Study, Lawrence Hall of Science, and dozens of schools and school districts.
