Connell Collection--approximately 550 photographs of Volusia County and the surrounding area taken between 1900 and 1915

Collection Number: M85-1
Creator: Connell, Frank H.
Title: Volusia County Area Glass Plate Negatives, 1900-1915.
Quantity: 550 photographs

Description: This collection of black-and-white photographic images explores life at the beginning of the 20th century in Volusia County and the surrounding area. Many images are from De Land and Stetson University, including several photographs of letters regarding a scandal at Stetson. Other images depict De Leon Springs, St. Augustine, and Jacksonville.

The photographers are unknown, though one is thought to be Grant Bly, former De Land city manager. His twin daughters are featured in this collection as children and young women. Other family members, including local businessman Egford Bly, probably shared the camera.
