My Dear Master,–
I hope you are feeling well again. It has given me much regret and pain to learn of your continued suffering. I am pained also to be obliged to offer you and Eugene as well as the K.U. Cooperation my resignation of the Bristol Store. I have no means or Cooperation here to aid me in this undertaking. Have begged [?] for this aid until now we are up against the real thing. My resignation is to take effect anytime [?] now and not later than Dec 25th. Promises will not answer now; we must have men [?] + means at once! Or it closes unless you send someone here to take this place from me.
Now I have no desire to go to Washington. Under the Co-operative plan as outlined; either I do not understand or I have had no good explanation of it. I have tried to follow it up, but I see a break in the logic + the outcome of it must be disastrous. Feeling this way about it I must decline to have any more to do with it, until remedy is made or I am more fully educated in the plan of operation. The Bristol plan has certainly proven to be a fallacious one as applied by these in charge here. I have been trying to be a servant here to carry + hold this store branch until you send some funds + men. But none came + so I must give it up. A statement of inventory is sent to Eugene.
With much love, I am as ever
Your devoted disciple,
Henry D. Silverfriend
P.S. Kindly accept this in true fellowship and as an absolute necessity
H.D.S.
