see the site map.
The Florida Memory Project Web site is comprised of five primary components.
THE
FLORIDA PHOTOGRAPHIC COLLECTION
The Florida Photographic Collection is a nationally recognized component
of the State Archives of Florida and contains more than 880,000 photographs,
and approximately 2,500 movies and video tapes. Over 143,000 of the photographs
have been scanned and placed on this website.
The collection spans a wide range of visual images from copies of mid
15th Century maps to current photographs. Most of the holdings in the
collection have been obtained singly or in small groups. Together, they
form the most complete portrait of Florida available--one that draws its
strength from family photographs, the homes of Floridians, their work,
and their pastimes.
Copies of any photograph in the collection are available for a nominal
copying
fee. We hope you enjoy browsing the images--and please, remember that
this collection was built on donations. If you have Florida-related images
you would be willing to let us copy, please contact the staff. We appreciate
your interest in our program.
What kind of images can I find in the Florida Photographic Collection?
With over 143,000 images ranging from copies of mid 15th century
maps to current photographs, and covering over 4,000 subjects, this digitized
selection of the Florida Photographic Collection comprises the most complete
online portrait of Florida available. Searching the entire Photographic
Collection will give you the most thorough results, however you may also
be interested in looking at individual collections.
