Sword model 1840 light artillery officer's saber made by the frim of N. P. Ames, Cabotville, Massachusettes about 1847. Blade etched "Genl George M Brook" and below this "U S A". Brass "D" guard with cast decorations, grip wood, covered with black leather and wrapped with brass (gilt) wire strands. Scabbard (not shown) metal and of standard pattern.
