Born in Concord, Pike County, Ga., August 2, 1882. Democrat. Served in the U.S. Army during World War I; secretary of state of Florida, 1930-61; alternate delegate to Democratic National Convention from Florida, 1940. Member of: American Legion; Freemasons; Shriners; Elks; Moose; Newcomen Society; Rotary; Woodmen. Died in Tallahassee, Leon County, Fla., 1975.
