Dunaway (in center) wrote for the Miami Herald sports page. In the 1960s, he became editor of Florida Sportsman Magazine (he retired in 1996). From the Florida panhandle, Dunaway graduated from Florida State University and began working for several newspapers in Georgia and Florida. He has published several books including Sports Fish of Florida, Sports Fish of Gulf of Mexico, and the Complete Book of Bait, Rigs, and Tackle. He later lived in Levy County.
