He was born on March 4, 1885, in Calhoun County. Married Avie Louise Mobley on June 26, 1907. He was shot and killed on November 17, 1911 while attempting to arrest an escaped prisoner (Lee Collins). Deputy sheriff Hansford's name is inscribed on the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, D.C. (West Wall, Panel 44, Line 21).
