General Note
Born on March 8, 1879, in Taylor County, Florida. Appointed as St. Lucie County sheriff by Governor Sidney J. Catts upon the resignation of his predecessor on July 10, 1920. He was killed on March 25, 1921 in an explosion of a confiscated bootlegger boat. His name is inscribed on the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, D.C. (West Wall, Panel 38, Line 21).
