"Born in Pedro Betancourt, Cuba; earned her MD from Havana University in 1955 and practiced in Mantanzas, Cuba. When she left Cuba in 1961 for political reasons, she returned to Jacksonville where she had previously done her medical residency. She devoted herself to caring for indigent children. She was the director of the Pediatric Clinic at the University Medical Center from 1964 to 1992. She also taught at the University of Florida's Health Science Center. 1984 Women's Hall of Fame inductee."--neg. sleeve.
