James was the only son of Dr. Edward B. and Mariah L. Ames Fleece of Wildwood. He married Carrie in Waycross, Georgia on December 19, 1891. They are the parents of one daughter (Loulie L. Fleece Fussell). He operated and served as Wildwood's first registered pharmacist in the first drug store. He also operated Wildwood's first telephone service. He died 1936.
Carried was born in Ocala on August 6, 1873 as the daughter of Reverend George C. and Elizabeth E. Leavel. She died in Jacksonville in 1966.
