Biographical Note
Dr. William Leland Hughlett was born in Lancaster VA on Oct. 16, 1861. He graduated from Medical College of VA at the age of 21 years, having been the honor graduate of his class. On Feb. 10, 1886, he married Miss Nannie Wilkerson, and with his bride he moved to Cocoa in 1890, where he lived until the time of his death on Sept. 19, 1925. He served as Mayor of Cocoa for 19 years, State Senator 1917-1919, and was president of the State Medical Association.
