State of Florida Western Individual Circuit Holmes County Circuit Court Fall Term AD 1858

Holmes County, to wit,

The Grand Jurors of the State of Florida sworn to inquire in and for the body of the County of Holmes upon their oath present that John Ammons late of the County of Holmes Yeoman not having the fear of God before his eyes but being moved and seduced by the instigations of the devil on the seventh day of September in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and fifty eight with force and arms in the county aforesaid in and upon one Samuel McJudge in the peace of God and the State of Florida then and there being feloniously willfully and of his malice aforethought did then and there make an assault and that the said John Ammons with a certain knife of the value of fifty cents which he, the said John Ammons, in his right hand then and there had and held the said Samuel McDuage in and upon the left side of the throat a little above the coller bone of him the said Samuel McDuage then and there feloniously willfully and of his malice aforethought did strike and thrust giving to the said Samuel McDuage then and there with the knife aforesaid in and upon the left said of the throat a little above the collar bone of him the said Samuel McDuage one mortal mound of breath of one inch and-
