Served with the 101st airborne in WWII. Among his decorations were the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Distinguished Service Medal and the French Croix de Guerre.
He became the ranking general of the Florida National Guard, serving the branch for nearly 30 years.
He also was Goulds postmaster for 30 years.
