Mrs. Gallemore was the sister of U.S. Senator Spessard Holland.
Biographical Note
Roy Trent Gallemore was born in 1895, and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. He served in the Navy from 1914 until the mid-1920's, when he left to help publish the Polk County Record. He remained in the Naval Reserve, was called to active duty in 1940, and after World War II, was stationed in the Micronesian Islands. After retiring from the Navy in 1954, he joined the U.S. Department of Interior in 1955 and returned to the Micronesian Islands where he spent 10 years. The culmination of his work was the formation of the first Micronesian Congress, in 1965. Captain Gallemore and his wife then retired to Bartow, where he died in 1977.
