General Note
This is the Welaka National Fish Hatchery, originally built by the State of Florida in 1926. Duting the New Deal, it was expanded by the Resettlement Administration. In 1938, it was transferred to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. A warm water hatchery, fish native to the Southeast are raised here and released in lakes, streams, and rivers.
