The American Wind Symphony was founded in 1957 by Robert Austin Bondreau. An expanded wind section of a symphony orchestra (triple and quadruble winds, percussion, and brass), the organization commissioned new works (over 350 since 1957). It performed on a barge in North American and Europe on the major waterways.
