Accompanying note: "Local artist and friend Mr. George Carey and Captain Dick Steadman, co-signing prints from the painting 'Drying the Sails' at Captain Steadman's house. Captain Steadman was the last master of the 'Western Union' depicted in the prints, while configured as a working schooner. Captain Steadman's father was the first master of the 'Western Union', Dick took over from his father. Captain Steadman had been in ill health for awhile but managed to sign all the prints with George that day. Captain Steadman passed away the following day."
