The conversation begins with a letter from Mrs. Rachel Girvin of Kingman, Kansas to State Senator Carrie Meek, asking for her help getting Zadnik's case reopened. Meek in turn asked Gene Adams from the Executive Office of the Governor to review the case. Adams forwarded the letter to the governor's general counsel, Syd McKenzie.
