Taken at the Tolliver Memorial Building at Market and Church streets.
Located at 2004 Herschel Street, the Jacksonville College of Music began in the 1930s, offering its first bachelor degree in 1934. In 1956, it merged with the newly created and privately-owned Jacksonville University (formerly the Jacksonville Junior College). At the time, George Orner was the director. It offered courses all types of music, in school bands, and orchestral instruction.
