Born in Kingston, Ulster County, New York in 1808. Member of the Legislative Council of the Territory of Florida. Served in the State Senate in 1845. State Supreme Court Justice from 1846 until 1853. Served as a member of the U.S. House from March 4, 1857 until January 21, 1861. He died in Marianna, Florida on March 15, 1878.
