Accompanying note: "Married Laura Mears in Key West, Dec. 28, 1853. Enlisted April 25, 1862 at Tampa. Private, Co. K, 7th Fla. Infantry. Promoted to Sgt. March 1, 1863, transferred to Navy Feb. 25, 1864. Pilot on the 'Savannah' and helped to sink her hust before the surrender."
"Born 1830. A wrecker at Key West. Age 17 with boat 'Sea Drift' moved to Pinellas Co. (Largo) a wrecker and fisherman. Built 1st frame house 'in this part of the state' and first Methodist Church. After war had 'Asa Lowe' built for fishing. Died: Aug. 5, 1921."
